BEACON TESTER MINI WI-FI

Beacon Tester 406 Mini (or EPIRB Tester) is the most convenient and reliable solution for field testing of any type of distress radio beacon (EPIRBs, PLBs) operating within the Cospas-Sarsat system.

The tester performs all necessary measurements at 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz homing signal frequencies.

Measurements are controlled from your mobile device connected via Wi-Fi. All major platforms are supported, including Android, iOS, Windows, and Linux. The intuitive software alows even an unexperienced surveyor to perform professional testing and measure numerous parameters to make sure that the beacon is reliable. Test reports will be automatically generated with a simple click.

The testing protocols adhere to SOLAS regulations and IMO Circulars 1039 and Circ.1040, ensuring compliance with international standards.

Product overview

Product image

Beacon Tester Mini Wi-Fi can serve as a reliable and easy-to-use professional tool for radio surveyors, EPIRB suppliers, registry authorities, and more.

EPIRBs are subject to annual performance tests and shore-based maintenance. The scope of shore-based maintenance is outlined in IMO MSC.1/Circ.1039/Rev.1. The annual testing of 406 MHz satellite EPIRBs is mandated by SOLAS regulation IV/15.9. This testing must be performed according to the guidelines specified in IMO MSC.1/Circ.1040/Rev.1, which defines the scope of annual beacon testing. Additionally, IMO MSC/Circ. 955 recommends that the annual testing of the EPIRB be conducted concurrently with the Annual Safety Radio Survey.

Testing should be performed using suitable test equipment, such as the beacon (or EPIRB) tester, which is capable of conducting all relevant measurements as specified in the guidelines above. All electrical parameter checks should be carried out in self-test mode, if possible.

The Beacon Tester Mini receives and decodes messages from any 406 MHz Cospas-Sarsat beacon, transmitting them in either test mode or emergency mode. The signal can be received via broadcast using an antenna, or the tester can be connected directly to the beacon with a cable through a suitable attenuator. Radiated tests in emergency mode should only be performed in a shielded room (or a shielded box).

After testing, the results will be displayed on the screen, and the software will automatically generate a test report.
